EFL Teachers' Perspectives towards Effective Teaching: A Comparative Study

Abstract

The present study has aimed at finding any significant probable differences between Iranian EFL university instructors' perspective towards effective teaching and Iranian EFL institute teachers' perspective towards effective teaching along with finding any significant probable relations between Iranian EFL university instructors and institute teachers' years of teaching experience and their perspectives towards effective teaching. Consequently, 100 Iranian EFL male and female instructors participated in a random way in the study from Tehran and Mashhad, Iran. Regarding the data collection phase, an Effective Teaching Survey with a reasonable reliability and validity along with a structured interview were employed in the study. In addition, the analysis of the data was handled through SPSS Software, Independent Samples Test along with Pearson Correlation. After analyzing the data, the results revealed that there existed a significant difference between Iranian EFL university instructors' perspective towards effective teaching and the institute teachers' perspective towards effective teaching. But regarding the second research question, the null hypothesis was proved for not having a significant relation between Iranian EFL university instructors and institute teachers' years of teaching experience and their perspectives towards effective teaching. Besides, the analysis of the results related to the structured interview depicted some interesting outcomes.
